Significant areas have been converted for agriculture and most of the Crown-owned forest is under commercial harvesting tenure. About 90 percent of Crown open grassland and a large portion of forested lands are under grazing tenures. Wildlife conservation depends on resource- based industries adopting environmentally sustainable land-use practices. CIJV partners are working to facilitate this process.

“Our goal, along with other CIJV partners, is to find creative and innovative ways to ensure we preserve B.C.’s valued species and spaces for generations to come.”
