a healthy, sustainable environment is essential to a strong community and economy.

The Canadian Intermountain is a working landscape that sustains a growing human population. Numerous communities dot the landscape, a testament to the thriving resource-based economy. Ranching and crop agriculture generate hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue. The forestry, energy, mining, tourism and recreation sectors are multi-
billion dollar industries. Wildlife viewing, hunting, hiking, fishing, canoeing and biking are tremendously popular. Bird watching, in particular, is one of Canada’s fastest-growing recreational activities. The region’s industries have a history of integrating wildlife management into their operations. Through the CIJV partnership, industry and conservation organizations are working together to broaden and improve conservation practices.
