Wood Duck - John Innes, UBC

the cijv takes a habitat-based approach to conservation.

Priority species have been identified for each of the region’s habitat types, and wildlife experts are determining the habitat requirements of these species. Partners are also developing best management practices for resource users.
CIJV conservation strategies include: securing high priority areas through purchase, lease, donations, easements/covenants, land transfer
or legislation; site-specific restoration, enhancement and management of habitats to improve carrying capacity for birds; land stewardship and extension within and among the resource sectors; influencing policy and legislation; initiating education and outreach initiatives.
